How to Remove Wax - and Its Dyes - from Carpet

Removing wax from carpet is challenging because the heat required to melt and remove the wax can also melt the carpet fibers – especially olefin, which has a low melting temperature.

Color in the candle wax is the other issue. Cleaners can often remove the wax successfully but are then left with dyes that were mixed into the wax. The high heat generated by Sapphire Scientific truckmounts can help remove the wax but will not always remove the dyes left behind.

Synthetic dyes are commonly used in candle wax, and removing them requires treatment with a premium product like Chemspec® Red X It, using the process below and these tools:

• Butcher paper or brown craft paper from paper shopping bag (avoid using printed section of bag)
• Old iron (do not take use your good iron from home for stain removal)
• Chemspec Red X It

Wax and Dye Removal Process:

1. Place paper over the wax.
2. Using a dry iron set on medium heat, place iron on top of paper for 5-10 seconds.
3. Lift iron and move paper to clean section (wax will be drawn into the paper).
4. Repeat until wax is removed.
5. Apply Red X It to the dye-stained fibers only and allow 10-15 minutes of dwell time.
6. If stain remains, use a heat transfer system with Red X It.
7. Rinse and dry area.
