Position Summary
Legend Brands is recruiting for a Sustaining Engineer in our Burlington, WA location.

The Sustaining Engineer evaluates competitive components in terms of performance, pricing, supply continuity, lead times, availability, configuration, and design.  Revise production drawings, specifications, work instructions and other documentation as products evolve through their life cycle.  Support shop floor personnel and suppliers when introducing configuration changes to production or the supply chain.  Work with Purchasing, Design Engineering and Manufacturing to identify, qualify, and implement alternative components to reduce cost,  develop alternative sources, alleviate supply disruption, or address field performance or service-related issues.
• Experience in a manufacturing and design environment preferred
• Experience with alternate sourcing of components
• General mechanical and electrical system and component analysis experience
• Knowledge of engineering Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software a plus
• Knowledge of regulatory agencies (ETL, UL, CSA, CE, VDE) a plus
• Knowledge of rotational molded, thermoformed and injection molded plastic parts and tool design a plus
• Highly proficient with Excel and related Microsoft products
• Knowledge of electrical components, circuit board design, firmware, electronic control systems - motors, fans.
• Basic proficiency with solid modeling Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and 2D production drawing generation, specifically SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of plastics, mechanical components, metals, and refrigeration system components.
• Knowledge of engines, pumps, blowers, heaters, burners, heat exchangers.
• Broad knowledge and experience with multiple commodities
• Ability to use software analysis tools and calculation programs.
• Complete understanding and working knowledge of engineering documentation (e.g. schematics, component data sheets, footprints, RoHS, etc.) as well as standard document control practices (e.g. ECRs, ECOs, MCOs, Deviations, etc.)
• Top notch technical communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven ability to establish strong technical relationships with Design, Engineering, Operations, and Suppliers
• Demonstrated teamwork and project management skills
• Travel 10 - 25% for supplier assessment, qualifications, trade-shows, etc.

• BSME and 5+ years relevant experience required
